HIGH PRESSURE MERCURY LAMP, LAMP UNIT USING THE SAME, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE LAMP UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high pressure mercury lamp with long life preventing blakening of the inner wall of a translucent container for long time without deteriorating starting property and lamp property. SOLUTION : The high pressure mercury lamp has a translucent bulb 6 made of quarts in which a pair of electrodes 7 are arranged, and mercury, halogen and rare gas are enclosed. Amount of halogen enclosed in the translucent bulb 6 is 1.0×10-6μmol/mm3 to 1.0×10-2μmol/mm3, and oxygen with the amount of 2.5 mol% to 25 mol% to the enclosed amount of halogen is enclosed.
