PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a standard sample for quantitative analysis of rare earth elements that is used when performing the quantitative analysis of rare earth elements using an X-ray microanalyzer, is chemically stable for a long time in the atmosphere at normal temperatures, has a flat surface, has no bubbles and void, and is uniform, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION : In a method for manufacturing a standard sample for quantitative analysis of rare earth elements, one type selected from the powder of the oxide, sulfide, boride, and halide of rare earth elements is compressed in a mold to form a tablet-shaped forming body. In this case, the above forming body is calcined with a range from 30% of the melt point to a temperature less than the melt point and then is subjected to buffing.
