PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an environmentally bearable coating (EBC) comprising a bonding layer and a protective layer and being superior than that produced by conventional technologies. SOLUTION : The article comprises a silicon base material, the bonding layer and the top protective layer. The top layer is selected from the group consisting of a rare earth bisilicate, yttrium bisilicate, a rare earth monosilicate, yttrium monosilicate, silica and their mixtures. The protective layer is used with the bonding layer which is located between the protective layer and the silicon base material and which functions as an oxygen getter by containing an oxygen getting agent.
