PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a dielectric ceramic having good temp. characteristics of the dielectric constant, not causing reduction even by firing in a reducing atmosphere and enabling the use of a base metal as an internal electrode material by firing a compound oxide contg. Ba, Ca, a rare earth element, Ti, Mg and Mn. SOLUTION : A compd. represented by the formula Ba1-x-y Cax Rey O}TiO2 (where Re is a rare earth element) and having 0.1-0.8 μm average particle diameter and <=0.03 wt.% alkali metal oxide content is wet-mixed with an Mg compd. and an Mn compd., 0.2-5.0 pts.wt. SiO2 -base sintering aid is added to 100 pts.wt. of the resultant compsn. and they are sintered at a temp. of <=1, 250 deg.C to obtain the objective dielectric ceramic represented by the formula Ba1-x-y Cax Rey O}m TiO2 +αMgO+βMnO (where 0.001<=α<=0.05, 0.001<=β<=0.025, 1.000
