PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technology of considerably reducing a manufacturing cost by suppressing the generation of Joule heat caused by an eddy current generated when an external magnetic field is changed so as to reduce the loss of energy conversion efficiency, and hardly causing deterioration in a magnetic characteristic due to oxidation and corrosion even in a hot and humid environment.
SOLUTION : The manufacturing method includes steps of press-forming metal particles comprising a rare-earth metal and a transition metal at a mole ratio (transition metal / rare-earth metal) of 1.8 to 2.1 to have a prescribed shape for forming a sintered body (1) whose principal phase is a Laves phase, thereafter keeping the sintered body immersed in resin liquid or anti-rust oil under a vacuum atmosphere to impregnate the resin liquid or the anti-rust oil into the sintered body (1), forming a plurality of eddy current suppression type super magnetostrictive elements (2) each in a form of dividing a pre-designed super magnetostrictive element, and forming an eddy current suppression type super magnetostrictive element (GM) by integrally joining the elements (2).
