PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a compact for magnet capable of manufacturing a compact for magnet having high relative density at a low molding pressure.SOLUTION : A manufacturing method comprises : a hydrogenation step of producing a hydrogenated alloy 10h which is a rare earth-iron-based alloy 10 hydro-treated in an atmosphere including hydrogen at a temperature of disproportionation or higher; a pulverizing step of preparing hydrogenated powder 20 by mechanically pulverizing the hydrogenated alloy 10h; and a molding step of forming a powder compact 50a by compression molding powder 40a for magnet including the hydrogenated powder 20. The molding step is performed under a molding pressure of 588 MPa or less in a state where the powder 40a for magnet is heated at a temperature of 250°C or higher and 600°C or lower.
