METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING R-T-B BASED SINTERED MAGNET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To coat an R-T-B based sintered magnet with a paste including powder particles for modifying the quality of the R-T-B based sintered magnet. SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing an R-T-B based sintered magnet comprises : a step A of preparing at least one R-T-B based sintered magnet (R represents a rare earth element, and T represents a transition element, including Fe inevitably); a step B of disposing the at least one R-T-B based sintered magnet; a step C of coating, by screen printing, a surface of the R-T-B based sintered magnet with a paste including powder particles of at least one kind selected from a group consisting of metal of a heavy rare earth element RH (RH represents Dy and/or Tb), and an alloy and compound thereof; and a step D of diffusing the heavy rare earth element RH into the R-T-B based sintered magnet. The step C includes the steps of : holding a screen plate in the state of being spaced apart from the R-T-B based sintered magnet; and transferring the paste supplied onto the screen plate to the surface of the R-T-B based sintered magnet while pushing the screen plate by a squeegee without putting the screen plate into contact with the R-T-B based sintered magnet.
