PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid catalyst which contains a transition metal atom of the Group 9 in the Periodic Table, e.g. an iridium atom, and has an excellent catalytic activity.SOLUTION : A solid catalyst consists of a transition metal-containing meso-porous organic silica having a structure of formula (1), where M is a transition metal atom of the Group 9 in the Periodic Table; Land Lare identical or different ligands; groups of Rto Rare independently an organic silane compound, H, a halogen atom or a mono- or di-valent organic group, e.g. an alkyl group.
