Provided is an Fe-based alloy composition whereby a gas atomization method can be applied and a soft magnetic material having an amorphous phase as the main phase thereof formed. The Fe-based alloy composition has a compositional formula FeaSibBcPdXe (a + b + c + d + e = 100 at%). X is any added element and is at least one type selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, platinum-group elements, Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, In, Sn, As, Sb, Bi, S, Y, N, O, C, and rare earth elements. The Fe-based alloy composition fulfils one of the following conditions 1 to 3. Condition 1 : 79.5 at% ≤ a ≤ 80.5 at%; 1.8 at% ≤ b ≤ 6 × α at%; 0.5 at% ≤ c ≤ 13.5 × α at%; 4.5 at% ≤ d ≤ 14 × α at%; 0 at% ≤ e ≤ (1 - α) × (b + c + d); and 0.8 ≤ α ≤ 1.0.Condition 2 : 80.5 at% ≤ a ≤ 81.5 at%; 1 at% ≤ b ≤ 4.8 × α at%; 4.3 at% ≤ c ≤ 12 × α at%; 6.5 at% ≤ d ≤ 11 × α at%; 0 at% ≤ e ≤ (1 - α) × (b + c + d); and 0.8 ≤ α ≤ 1.0.Condition 3 : 80.5 at% ≤ a ≤ 81.5 at%; 1 × α at% ≤ b ≤ 2.8 × α at%; 2.8 × α at% ≤ c ≤ 8 × α at%; 11 × α at% ≤ d ≤ 14.5 × α at%; 0 at% ≤ e ≤ (1 - α) × (b + c + d); and 0.8 ≤ α ≤ 1.0.
