ALUMINOBORO-SILICATE GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a short optical glass suitably used in an application field particularly of imaging, projection, telecommunication, optical information technology and/or laser technology and particularly suitable for optical application (light guide or imaging guide). SOLUTION : The glass has preferably refractive index of 1.54≤nd≤1.62 and Abbe number of 48≤νd≤57 and further has excellent attenuation characteristic, ion exchange characteristic. chemical stability and crystallization stability. The glass contains 35-50 wt.% SiO2, 0.1-6 wt.% B2O3, 0.1-7 wt.% Al2O3, 0.1-4 wt.% P2O5, 4-24 wt.% R2O (alkali oxide), 6-14.5 wt.% BaO, 0-12 wt.% other RO (alkaline earth oxide except BaO), 14-25 wt.% ZnO, 0-5 wt.% La2O3and 0-10 wt.% ZrO2. The maximum content of Li2O is 6 wt.%. The glass does not contain GeO2, SnO, SnO2, AgO, Sb2O3and preferably rare earth oxide.
